In the old school primer Now We Read, the name of the cat featured with thingy, Jane, Sally, and their dog Spot, was Puff.
Anyone beside mE learn how to read with this book? Dam I feel old, just thinking about it. It seemed so simple, so easy, why can't people read today? I cannot comprehend not being able to read. I have a grandson who cannot read and is the father of four children. When he was a child he would open half a dozen cans of soup to find the one he wanted because he could not read. He has a drivers licence. Took the test with earphones and passed. It killed mE when April had trouble reading, but she never could not read at all. How empty life would be not to read a book to your children. Not to enjoy the quite of a huge library. Never shoping in a bookshop. No magazines, no books, never being able to read or write. If you cannot read, how could you write? It is not that no one tried or worked with him, he just refused to learn how no matter what they did. One of our biggest problems here in the deep south is education. More young people will graduate hardly being able to read the diploma they receive. How does one just not be able to read? Thank you thingy, Jane, Sally, Spot, and Puff.
xoxox, mE
