Change is hard, I know ;D First, you gotta register....look for the "register" button at the right above that annoying ad. Second, you gotta use a valid e-mail address....that way your temporary password can get to you. After that's done, you can login, and then go to your profile (link is up there in that row of links above the ad) and change your password to something you can remember, as well as add information and set your preferences. While in your profile, be sure to add some personal text (it doesn't allow much) so people can see a brief overview in the space near your username in a post. There is also a signature line box where you can enter more text, which appears to be a better place to more completely explain your situation, if desired. You can insert web links and UBB code there. Experiment with the avatars....you can use one of the canned ones or create one of your own, send it to me and I'll host it for you. Turn that frown upside down Lastly, don't be afraid to post topics! I don't bite, although I have been known to chew on things Oh, BTW, please do try to keep it civil. I know we often get stressed out, but a deep breath and pushing back from the keyboard for a minute usually makes things better. Use the emoticons (smilies)...it really helps convey meaning. Best wishes! Your humble servant

I've also noticed, if you have an old page view and don't refresh the page, the old page from your computer cache comes up. I saw some previous iterations of the forum format until I reloaded the pages for the main categories. So, if things don't look right, try reloading the page using the reload button on your browser tool bar. Additionally, after registering, if you've been viewing the forum for awhile, it might be a good idea to clear your browser cache to get rid of those old pages. It won't hurt anything It's kind of like cleaning house. That can be found in your browser preferences.

Changing screen names....and staying logged in..
Go to your profile; the link can be found at the top of any page, above the ad, near the center. Once there, look for display name; you can then change your screen name to your old one. Your username (for registration) has to remain the same, so remember it and your password if you log in and log out. You can choose to remain permanently logged in or have the login expire. You'll see that on your login page.

Logging in and staying logged in (or not)... First, make sure you are accepting cookies from the forum, and no, I don't mean chocolate chip ones Then, log out, clear your browser cache, and log back in, paying careful attention to what you see on the login page. There should be a box for your name and password and also one where you can choose how long to stay logged in. If you want to remain logged in indefinitely (for me this has worked no problem overnight), just leave the minutes box empty and check the box to stay logged in all the time. Then press submit. That should work.

Some added suggestions: To keep your e-mail address private, click the "hide e-mail" button in your profile. Remember, your profile can be accessed by clicking on the "profile" link in the button bar right above the banner ad on any main forum or thread page. Also, this forum has "sticky" and "locked" threads. Sticky threads will have a little thumbtack icon in them and will stay at the top of the thread list always. Locked threads are ones I don't invite replies to, such as this FAQ thread. Note, this thread is both locked and sticky, so it is always at the top for people to read. There are some sticky threads in this forum right now regarding our new home and options available to us. Please read them and comment if you like. They are open to reply. I will use such threads from time to time to invite comment on a particularly important subject where I don't want the thread to slide down for lack of additional reply. Hope that all makes sense Neo

I've noted some AD posts in the EE forum... It's OK to post things wherever you wish, but you will note from time to time I will move topics to the appropriate forum. I do this to make searching easier, as AD posts can be searched in only one forum, and the searches will go faster. Also, people tend to congregate in one area or another, and a post will likely get more thorough response if posted in the appropriate area. Do not take it personally; you didn't do anything wrong. I'm just a little anal about such things Lastly, I will not be deleting any posts, except for housekeeping (where a member has asked for help on a personal forum issue), unless members alert me to inappropriate posts. You all are the best judge of what should be here so I'll leave it to your wisdom to decide. Neo
