The best place to find information on all government programs is your local Area Agency on Aging. They administer some federal programs and are responsible for providing referals, information and assessments. They operate under federal aging programs and serve anyone 60 or over. They definitely should be able to answer your Medicare and Medicaid questions. And ask them for help locating programs to assist your situation. Locate your local office by calling 1-800-677-1116. There is also an "Eldercare locator" site on the web where you put in your zip code to find the local office. www.eldercare.gov The best place I have found to read explanations of medicare and medicaid regulations is at elderlawanswers.com The biggest insurance misconception is that medicare pays for nursing home care. Medicare does not pay for "custodial care." If a person qualifies for medicaid, there may be some programs for limited in home care assistance. Norbert
