It is really important for us to protect ourselves from Alzheimer's disease. This condition is really something very scary, especially when I found out from a 'nun study treatment’ as I searched it in google that those who have a condition of Alzheimer's within their family has contracted. Thus, it is vital to have precautions in order to protect ourselves from Alzheimer in earlier period since this disease can be inherited. So if either your father or mother has Alzheimer, then as a child you might inherit it. According to the study I had read that Alzheimer spread throughout genetic material.

No one knows for sure. Do you have someone in your family with Alzheimer's?

Wow, Alzheimer’s sure is scary, I might check our family tree and see who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s I hope there’s none in our family. I read the ‘nun study treatment’ and yes the disease can be inherited. I hope they would find the cure for this disease. Alzheimer’s is a dreadful disease where you could forget everyone around you and the memories you had. I hope this disease won’t happen to me. I don’t want to forget those people around me and the memories I had with them. Let’s pray for them to find the cure for the disease. Thank you health geenie. For sharing us on what you read.

Mary there is no definite research on this. Alzheimer's is sadly so much more then losing your memory. It is losing everything as one knows today..ability to communicate, ability to do simple task and simple skills, ability to take care of your self from bathing to dressing. Its hallucination, being frightened of surroundings you once knew..it is not knowing your loved ones. It is incontinence both ways. Later ones ability to eat, to walk, and so much more. It is a dreaded hateful disease that destroys everything in a persons life. Not all loved ones who have AD are effected in the same way..some may not loose as many skills, et as others. We care givers survive because of our love for that loved one in our life and for Gods sprinkles of joy along the way..the touch of a hand in yours, a sweet smile and for some words of love or maybe that special HUG that says I love you....it doesn't always happen but when it does it is a blessing. Welcome Alice Thank you for your prayer..We do so need prayer for a cure .

This is very alarming. I hope this is not a 100% accurate. What are the other cause of Alzheimer's disease?

There is no research that is 100% accurate as to how one gets Alzheimer's. The fact that it may be inherited is still being studied. I suggest that one research the latest finding, et.
Many on this board over the years have shared that their loved one was active and had a healthy diet. I know my husband was very active..loved board games, hiking et. No one else in his family had any form of dementia or Alzheimer's. (5 siblings) He was an electrical engineer and supervisor so yes he used his mind daily.
Encouraging HUGS to all..may you know joy in your day..stay strong..alice
